The Divine rod ID and info.

This is the board to ask about the identity, or for an appraisal, of a rod. Please use the outline as explained on the board. If there is a makers name, list that in the subject line. Make sure you include the length, number of sections, any identifying markings and the general condition. Adding photographs is always helpful!

The Divine rod ID and info.

Totally clueless on flyrod termonalgy, so please be kind, lol.

I've had this rod for probably 10-15 yrs. It's a 3 piece rod. No case or tube. The reel seat is aluminum and stamped " The Divine Rod" there are no other markings, or if there was, are long gone. Overall length is 8', but I suspect the tip has been shorted because there is no metal end on it, but it does fit snuggly into the middle piece. All the eyes are there, but they fold back and forth. Wrappings are red and most are in good condition, but a couple are loose and missing. Any help would be appreciated.

This marking was used 1890-1900, which means this rod was made during Fred Divines lifetime (he died in 1900).
In my opinion it has a little more value for that reason, although the short sections are unfortunate. Maybe $100 ballpark.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was most likely a mantle piece.

It is, but still a piece of bamboo history and worth preserving.

Are the "loose" eyes something that Divine used frequently, or is that something odd or rare?
