First fishing day in 2023 ( 2nd, 3rd,...)
#1I fished one of the local smaller streams with my nodeless Madake 7'#5 and dry flies. I managed to catch some nice wild fish, small but beautiful.

#8Beautiful stream, rod and fish, and the South Creek hat is a nice touch.

#11A photo report from a fishing day which I spent in the good company of my friend from Rome. We fished another small stream in west Slovenia and a bigger river later in the evening. He was using a 6'3''#4(Midge PHY taper) and 8'#6 The Force. I was fishing the whole day with the Guadua 7'6''#5.

#13What happened to your South Creek Ltd. Hat in the second selfie? I love to see one in actual worse shape than mine. Here in Northern New Mexico, opening day was July 1st on the Costilla and Comanche Creek after a two year closure to completely remove all fish from the entire drainage and restock with native Rio Grande cutthroats as a wonderful restoration project. With great excitement and anticipation, I stalked several miles of tiny Comanche Creek without seeing a single fish anywhere, finally concluding it was completely and utterly fishless. And sure enough, checking online, Fish and Game proudly announced the restocking of Comanche Creek on July 2nd, the next day, a day after opening day. I feel both stupid, deceived and relieved. Only in New Mexico.

#16Here where I fished the daily permit costs 67€(C&R)moregrayling wrote: ↑07/03/23 22:39Is there affordable fishing in Slovenia? I always wanted to go, but while I gladly would pay 2K€ for a cane rod, I am too shabby to shell out 140€ (or thereabouts) for a day ticket. Same reason keeps me out of Austria.
P.S.: super grayling!

#17I got it 15 years ago and it was used for all kind of "workdays"! I even swam in the sea with that hat on...

#19I know this does not fit into the thread title but here are some photos anyway. One of my rods (8'8''#5) is currently fishing in Sweden...
