For some stupid reason, Gmail has decided to block emails from Dreamhost, which includes this forum sending emails such as the activation emails for users. Pretty ironic since the vast majority of spammers and scammers I eliminate from this forum have Gmail addresses.
I've got a support ticket in with Dreamhost to see if they can rectify the situation with Gmail so that Gmail accepts emails from Dreamhost/this forum.

Re: Gmail blocking emails
#2Unless you have any commercial clout with Gmail, I doubt they'll even acknowledge your complaint. I have the same issue with my private mail server. Gmail blocks any messages sent from my domain because their blacklist includes the entire IP range from my hosting company (which is a completely bona fide provider) - been this way for the last couple of years. I run both a gmail account and and iCloud account _Just_ so I can send email to gmail addresses...

#4Most spam filters use what is called a RBL(Realtime Black List). Spammers setup on a hosting service such as Dreamhost and start their spamming. Dreamhost then gets added to the RBL because the spammer is hosted on their network. Dreamhost will have to eliminate the spammer and submit a ticket to the RBL list they have been listed on(may be several), which may be Google themselves. Most times this takes several days.

#6I started receiving the email notifications again this morning. Hopefully this was fixed and it isn't just a fluke.

#7Well aware of RBL's. However it's not the case here. It's Google itself causing the blockage, not due to being listed on an RBL. Waiting to hear back from Dreamhost if they've had any luck dealing with Gmail/Google.davidk wrote: ↑12/18/23 12:07Most spam filters use what is called a RBL(Realtime Black List).
