Source for Wheatley boxes
#1I’m in the market for a small Wheatley spring clip box, but am having trouble locating a source. I know Dette Flies has them, but they are out of stock on the model I want. Any other ideas? (US only.)
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#3Thanks! Don’t know how I missed them. Unfortunately, they don’t sell the 1301 model that I’m looking for.

#5I know you said US only but I've bought directly from Wheatley several times.Shipping is pretty quick except the time British Postal was on strike.

Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#6Yes, but I’ve been told that the tooling to make the 1301 and other boxes in that size is broken, and the repair of it is not cost-effective at this time. So not likely to find this coming from Wheatley.
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#7REC is making them here in the USA now. You will have to contact them as far as the model you want of course.

Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#8Really? They are literally making them here? I just checked their website. They don’t seem to list any of the smaller size boxes.
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#9Are you looking for the Wheately flat foam type box or the ones with the fly compartments?
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#10Neither. Spring clips in a small box (3-1/2”). Either the 1301 or the 1302.
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#11It seems the 1301 & 1302 models are discontinued, and out of stock at well known classic tackle shops everywhere including the popular auction sites. With some luck perhaps another avenue to explore are antique stores, yard sales, flea markets etc. Sort of fun part of the hunt is to keep on the search effort. They are out there somewhere. Best of luck!
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#12Yes, it certainly looks that way, unless they decide to fix their tooling down the road. It’s a shame, because these boxes were a nice convenient size to fit into a small pocket.
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#13A 1301 or 1302 compactness is very close in dimensions to a Sucrets tin box. ...
Just curious Is the 1301 or 1302 model number stamped somewhere onto the external part of the box or internal area?
Any photos?

Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#14No, there is no model number stamped on the box. I believe the length dimension is 3-1/2”. The 1302 is like a 1301, but has an added swing leaf.
Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#15I'm poking around at various websites and if I'm not mistaken the Wheatley 1301 appears to be 3-1/2"L x 2-3/8"W x 5/8"D for the spring clip model.
I don't see anything up for sale though.

Re: Source for Wheatley boxes
#16That sounds about right. They’re currently not being manufactured, due to a tooling problem.
