Abu 156 and 178 Reels

Not sure if these qualify as Classic in everyone's minds, but they seem well designed and sturdy reels, at least the Swedish made ones which I take it as having been made in the 1978 to early 80's era before production moved to Japan. The question....I think I read that the model designation indicated the line weight to use, ie the 156 was for 5 or 6 weight lines, and the 178 model for 7 or 8 weight. Is that a true statement? Not a lot online about these reels to verify.

Aha, that first link is probably where I read of the line weights. Still a bit of a mystery as to when you see what is for sale the 156 seems to always be called the Ambassadeur, and the 178 model is either that, or the Diplomat. The earlier Record models seem quite collectible.
