Hello,
I am a long time Forum member. For 10 years I have operated a small bamboo rod restoration & repair shop in western Washington (bamboo-rod-works.com)
I emphasize high quality restoration to original rod specifications, & have restored Payne, Edwards, Carlson, Leonard, Kusse, Winston, Orvis, Paul Young, Granger & many others, for rod owners across the country, in England & southern Africa.
**Of particular note are my high quality scarf joints, guaranteed for the life of the rod.
Please visit my web site, and consider me for work on your vintage rods, from small repairs to full restoration.
**New "Bamboo Rod List" of high quality vintage bamboo rods & reels for sale is now posted (bamboo-rod-works.com/bamboo-rod-list). All rods & reels are 100% guaranteed to be accurately described w/3 day return privilege. New rods & reels added each week.
Thank you very much & best wishes, Mark Frey

#2I can attest to the high quality of Mark‘s work. And besides that, he is just a really nice guy. Highly recommended. Although he did get the URLs wrong
They are https://bamboo-rod-works.com/index.html and https://bamboo-rod-works.com/bamboo-rod-list.html And Mark is so nice, I'm sure he won't mind me correcting him...

#3Thanks Kevin!
I've been doing the links for so long in shorthand version. Time to learn how to do it correctly!
Best, Mark

#4I can attest as well!
I have two Granger Special 5 1/2' casting rods from Mark that he restored. One had a short tip that he scarfed. I generally line them both up to play out in the front yard. Sidewalk is marked as to distance
Works for fly casting too.
I have to look carefully to tell which of the rods has the tip scarf. Sometimes when putting back in their vintage Granger tubes...they end up in the other rod tube.
Need to get him to tackle ECPowell's method of "varnish". Don't think Mark could find banana oil though
Welcome Mark!

#5I would like to pile on too. I used to live close by Mark and spent many a day casting rods and talking shop. He has worked on a number of my rods, and they always come out great. His prices are very fair too.
