#743Was out the other day with a Leonard 35 7’ 3/2 for a #3 , No pictures of the little brookies as it was my first time out and wanted to have some safe releases under my belt. Was a nice day for me.

#746I fished this Laurel Highlands Stream yesterday:
7-foot Superfine & St. George Jr.
I drove through the Laurel Valley on my way home. It's a beautiful place with some spectacular farms:

You've reminded me to get my 35 out, and deeply flexing soon. That's such a bendy, gentle, gentleman's rod, we are kings.

The one in my possession has a nice distinct swell going into the grip, beautiful with a 406 3DT. Medium to maybe a tad faster, like butter. I am in love with the 35 and truly happy I did not part with the model.ReelPatina wrote: ↑05/24/22 21:19Was out the other day with a Leonard 35 7’ 3/2 for a #3...

I have heard and read some 35’s being described as whippy in the wet fly realm, which this 35 does not meet such a description. Though I would also welcome and enjoy casting one that does and perhaps an owner of one mine. Your model 35 is classic and I can never determine which is better the scenery or the equipment when you post.
Kings for sure!

#750Wish I knew Darrell. I see them on small mountain streams in May, but can't find it on the Pennsylvania hatch charts. A #14 Light Cahill parachute works fine...

#751Part of the beauty of fishing these streams is walking back to the car while taking in the landscape. Beautiful farm land Greg!

#752Hm, wonder if that's the Epeorus my fave mayfly, not a lot of them. It's the mountain mayfly for us, usually up high in the cool headwaters, beautiful things and big, around #12.Greg Reynolds wrote: ↑05/25/22 16:11Wish I knew Darrell. Interesting, I zoomed in on yr pic and you def have a nice swell on your 35. Mine doesn't, and is deeply medium (I don't say slow), and if one waits and is patient you can enter a whole new world of sleepiness, ha. Agree, wish we could examine and fish them side-by-side.

#754Those East Coast streams are truly beautiful (and the going looks quite easy as well). Is all of the vegetation native? My streams are choked with willows and blackberry bushes.

#755There are always non-native plants in the woods here in Southwest Pennsylvania. To what extent depends on the location. Japanese barberry is one of the more common invasives in the mountains. Pennsylvania has banned its sale after this year.
There are a lot non-native wildflowers species in the Eastern US.
