Let's see pics of your biggest trout caught on a bamboo fly-rod. This is mine - a 14lb wild rainbow caught in river in Patagonia on a size 16 Flashback nymph. The rod is a 1978, 8', 4 3/8oz Orvis Battenkill Image

Now how can we improve on this?.... Image

I suggest we ignore Tom for a while!

Just kidding.

What a great fish on a superb looking river!

Tom, I was wondering why this thread didn't exist in the first place, thanks for starting it! Your rainbow is a whopper, hard to beat that, although I'd be really interested to see how others have done.

FWIW, my PB trout are much smaller and will probably win the prize of smallest "biggest trout on bamboo". Both stockies, they were taken from the Tirino, a spring creek in Central Italy, on a refinished GGA 8040 -- to all Granger purists, sorry about the non-original re-wrap color! Both between 16"-17", the brown was heavier at slightly over 2 lbs., if I remember rightly.

Can't touch your gorgeous rainbow but my biggest was just under 25" on a 7'6" hollowbuilt Winston 4 wt in VA, no photos since it was a rainy day and I intended to fish the Kushner since it had been rather windy but Rolf Jacobsen shamed me into fishing the Winston.............. Another Winston hollowbuilt 9' was responsible for a 48 1/4" Atlantic Salmon on the Miramichi just down from the Cairns at the crossings.

A 4.5-lb Lahontan Cutthroat at Pyramid Lake this past April.  Nothing to write home about compared with some 12-pounders I saw caught there, but no one else was using a bamboo rod, that I could see.  I was using an 8', 4 1/2 oz Battenkill with a Hardy Princess reel and a red Mahalo nymph.

24"+ LL salmon caught somewhere in Maine on a 4wt penta Sweetgrass. I nailed him on a joe's hopper. Took me a while to finally land him. Truth be told, I never thought I was going to land this fish.

Sorry, no pictures, but mine was a fat 22 inch rainbow on the Kettle river in Eastern Washington. Taken with a hopper in July in about 6 inches of water just off the bank on a W&M Granger 8642 Aristocrat and a  3 1/8 in. Hardy Perfect.  Wonderful fish in a perfect setting. Not even close to your monster Tom, but it was good enough.

Excluding steelhead, a 26" rainbow from Conewago Creek in s. central PA, early this year.  Have forgotten what he took, but it was #18 or under, in a riffle that sometimes literally did not cover his back.  Best guess on rod is PHY Special 8'6" 5wt.

My biggest on boo was landed this spring on my Orvis 8' 4 1/8 ounce and a Hardy Perfect 3 3/8" reel.  6x tippet and size 18 pheasant tail nymph.

Steel head caught and released last April on a 9' Phillipson Premier for HCH. This rod was built in 1950 so it is almost my age but somehow it is better preserved and shows less wear and tear.

The biggest was two weeks ago tonight, a 26" rainbow that hit a black wooly bugger right after nightfall. The rod was a Granger 9053 and the reel a Shakespeare AuSable. It was too dark for pictures.
Here are some of the bigger fish I have caught on bamboo and on camera.
