Just got an 8' 3/2 HI Canada Creek in the mail today. It is in great shape, straight as an arrow. Despite the snow and the cold, I couldn't help myself and strung it up in the backyard with a 5 and 6 wt line. I really liked it with the 5 wt line, a sweet medium to medium/fast dry fly taper!

Driftless, I love my Canada Creek as well. It's now my favorite 8' rod.

Don’t know that I’ve ever cast a Canada Creek, but I’ve fished (West) Canada Creek not far from where the rod was made.

Gerard great to see you last night! Spruce Grouse, I could see this rod right at home on a medium sized Catskill creek.

A 7' 2/2 Edwards quad. No photos yet, but many thanks to the folks at Classic Tackle Purveyor. I've found it to be a wonderful 4WT, casting strong and true, like all Edwards quads. It will see a lot of water rather soon.

Excellent! Good find and the owner, Mark Brinkman, at Classic Tackle Purveyor is great to deal with.

Hi all,

I was able to pick up a G Granger Aristocrat 8040 3/2 and a Leonard 39h 2/2 in amazing shape at an estate sale last week! Took the Granger out and caught quite a few the other day. I have only lawn cast the Leonard, and it will be an amazing dry fly rod to use sometime soon!

Great estate sale to be at! Looks like an exceptional rod.

Here are the other two rods Jim. The top photos are of the 6'8 Dennis Menscer 3 wt. that was also there. Image

Winter is a perilous time, bringing forth needs I thought had been tamed. Arrived in the mail today is a beautiful, barely touched, impeccable Chris Carlin made Payne 204H, 8’6” 3/2 6 weight. Chestnut wraps gold tipped. What a beauty. Snow on the ground and a storm coming, so I’ll just have to ogle it for a while. Christmas “surprise.”

Ended 2022 on a high note with a purchase of a Mark Aroner Spring Creek. It’s a 7.5 foot three piece five weight.

Bought a new Jim Downes 7'9" #5 from Carmine before christmas. Found out later that I was probably too quick to buy as I really didn't have a need for it. But it is a great rod. :)

May I be so bold as to ask, What does need have to do with it? :rollin

I agree with the idea of what does need have to do with it. You never know, Mr. Downes rods will probably appreciate in value some day and if you sell this on, you will be kicking yourself. Besides, if it casts better than another rod of the same character, sell on the loser and you will have upgraded your collection.

Just when I thought I didn't need another bamboo rod, I had to have a few more..Just received an early model Milward FlyLite..very delicate rod that I can hardly wait to cast..Waiting on the arrival of a Leonard 50DF 8' Tournament and a 1940s MIlls 8' Standard....This Bamboo stuff is getting addictive!!

Just got some images of the William MIlls Standard..1940 era

Got an older Goodwin Granger Victory 8040 with only one tip and a bit of a double set.Everything else is tight! STILL it tosses a sweet fly.Only did it on the streets of San Francisco and it handled the wind pretty good, 40-55 feet, especially since it was along Ocean Beach. Just a sweet rod, though. Can't wait untul May and I'll hopefully get onto the Little Truckee or other in Cali. Right now just practicing and fiddling around with my equipment in the living room as it snows in western Massachusetts.Cheers,Chet

I just bought a Granger 8642 built in the 1930's. It will be the only rod I fish this year.
