5' Payne baitcaster w/ photos and guides

The exchange of tapers forum is for classic and personally developed tapers. The definition of classic tapers are those tapers that were developed by rodmakers that are no longer alive. Please understand that rod makers who have developed their tapers, and are active in the community, should not have their tapers cloned, or shared, without their permission, please refrain for asking for those tapers as it infringes on the maker.

Three guides from tip: 7 7/8", 17 3/8", 29 3/4"
Oh, it's good w/ a 3/8 oz casting plug.

MEASUREMENTS OVER VARNISH-you remove whatcha want (prob .006)

0 .086
5 .100
10 .126
15 .146
20 .168
25 .196
30 .216
35 .242
40 #16 ferrule-end of male slide is 40.5" from tip= tip section is 40.5"
42 .268 (base of female)
45 .272
50 .368 (even-paced swell)
51-66 handle and reelseat.

I have no idea what lure it casts...I'm no baitcaster. In fact I put on my Johnson spin caster (my Ambassador has a mangled foot and would mar the lovely AL over walnut DL reelseat ) and  1/4oz casting plug was pretty light. In kind-of worked, but my guess it is at least 3/8oz. Lovely rod, I'll post photos soon on another page.

You never know 'til you try. Seeing how it's a light baitcaster, it might be happy. Might make the butt section longer to contain the longer spinning handle.
