Glad to see I'm a "hero member," whatever that means. I'm baffled, though, by why I'm listed as having about 1400 posts, since Yuku still lists over 2000.
I don't care, but I AM curious.

I had over 4000 posts counted on Yuku. Now I am credited with about 2200 posts. It might as well be 12,000 posts or 12 posts. It's just a number. The value is in the fun we've had and the rods we've fished and the friends we've made.

I just looked up the Yuku Hall of Fame. There's a guy in there who is credited with 124,842 posts. Does that fact particularly make you want to go look up what he's written? Me neither. But if BlackHillsBill has something to say, well I'm on it and I bet you are too. People who care about whether the varnish is original and both tips are the same length know that quality matters, not quantity.

Administrator,
As you pointed out, my problem was with my bookmark. My live in computer expert has up dated same and all is well--- I think.
Not being from the computer age, I can only imagine how much work this change over has been. Thank you and a job very well done.

Quash and Bulldog,

I agree with both of you. They are only numbers.
And who counts when he's having fun? I was
relieved my age is nowhere apparent in the new
profile. And anyone would rather read Hemingway,
Ron. Good taste is prerequisite for forum membership.
But when you say that and then claim to be smiling,
there's just one way for me to respond: :P. I think
we all look trimmer and more robust after undergoing
post reduction. Liposuction was a chancy alternative.

Who else do you know who would be able to slip liposuction into a "Welcome to the New Forum" topic. :D

As I said, I don't care how many posts I am credited with. Honest. I'm just glad to be a hero.

But surely someone out there must understand the methodology.

Meanwhile, I'm getting ready to watch my daughters count their Christmas presents. Later, I will count my expenses and my dwindling supply of dollars. Then I will count the days until my next time on the stream.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all of you.

All 60 usernames beginning 'wa' have now been fixed. Thanks for bringing that to my attention in the Technical Support forum.

Hey, Ron, that's what I looked like in college in the mid-'70s when I'd get my hair cut twice a year!

Hey BHB:

I see we're now both designated as "veterans". That makes me think we either should be protesting the proposed closing of the Hot Springs VA or be residing in a "domicillary" somewhere.

Frankly, I don't think either of us is that far gone...yet. I just liked "hero" a lot better...even though I'll always be proud to be a U.S. "vet".

Me, too, Scott. It's made me think of 1st Sgt Anderson,
my orderly room mentor and friend over 55 years ago,
who was a genuine "hero." I don't regard being called
"veteran" a demotion, then, so much as a realization
that I don't belong in Andy's league, that it could never
be a matter of both/and for me as it was for him. It's
good thinking about him again, though.

One could do worse than be a veteran of forum wars.
