adding an orvis rod to the data base??

#1

Post by Ridgerunner2 »

I don't see any way to add a rod to the Orvis database. I have one that is not in there. It's S/N 36772 and a "Madison seven/three". 7ft 2-pc. (no extra tip). 3-1/8 oz. 3-wt. It's in an aluminum tube with a green label. Inside bag is light brown with fish and quail and "Orvis" on it.Can't tell who made it but there is an inscription that reads  I.G.I(3)  on the butt section. Don't see anything similar listed in the database. It's a very nice soft action rod that feels more like a 0 or 1-wt than a 3-wt. It's only barely if any stiffer than my 00-wt Sage TXL.

If someone knows how this can be added to the database.

Thank you, I will contact Greg Reynolds who own the database and he will make the addition, generally we update the database 2 x a year and it will be in the next update and it was recently updated 6 weeks ago.

Need to add one more into the Orvis DB:

Orvis Battenkill 7' 6" 2/2, HDG(6), S/N 55298 w/grey sock and aluminum tube.
Previous owner states this was manufactured on July 3, 1969 which fits correctly in the existing database timeline.

Never used and in mint condition as of Nov 2014.

Just acquired a rod that is not listed.
#47579 8 1/2' 5 1/8 oz. 2/2 (one tip may be a later factory purchase as it is somewhat lighter in color, same serial number in the same hand) marked : Impregnated,"Battenkill", 8 1/2' 5 1/8 oz GAF (9). Cigar grip aluminum dowlocking with walnut spacer

Silver tube with blue label, has a stick on label over top of the model info on the original tube label.

Cast briefly in the snowstorm with a WF8 and it felt moderately fast and casts with authority.

I hope I don't get banned for posting this one, but it is an "Orvis Impregnated":

rod #65066
"Superfine Spin"
6' - 2 7/8 oz.
for 1/8 - 1/4 oz. lures

That's what she says. There's one a few digits back that says superlight spin, but this one is definitely Superfine. Don't know about the ferrules, but it adds some data on the blank weight of the other little spinning rods of the time. Nice little rod! It's the only Orvis rod I have that's not a fly rod.

Thanks, it will appear online in the next update, which should be in late January or February. BTW, it's Bill Young...
