Duracane taper

The exchange of tapers forum is for classic and personally developed tapers. The definition of classic tapers are those tapers that were developed by rodmakers that are no longer alive. Please understand that rod makers who have developed their tapers, and are active in the community, should not have their tapers cloned, or shared, without their permission, please refrain for asking for those tapers as it infringes on the maker.

There are 2 tapers for the Duracanes. 1- Ted Sinroe 1970's and 2- Tom Maxwell late 1970's to 1985. Which taper do you want?

Billy and Others.
Here are the duracane tappers.
T.W.Simroe 6/26/1975
Tip 46" Butt 44"
0" .068 0" .180
11.5" .097 11" .210
23" .125 22" .240
34.5" .154 33" .270
46" .182 44" .300

Tom Maxwell 1980-81
0 .062 .184
6" .075 .195
12" .090 .209
18" .103 .227
24" .120 .242
30" .134 .264
36" .147 .275
42" .166 .295
48" .176 .295
Tom left the sections long so they could get two to three line wtgs. when trined to length. These tapers are shop measurements You will need to graph the Simroe taper to get 5" stations.

Can anyone explain the taper above for the SImroe Duracane?

Maybe it is because I am new at rod building, maybe it is the formatting, but I can’t for the life of me understand the numbers.

Sorry if this is not what you’re asking.
This is how I would read the Simroe taper:

Tip section is 46”, butt is 44”
Flat to flat dimensions measured from the tip:

At 0" .068”
11.5" .097
23" .125
34.5" .154
46" .182 tip
46” .180 butt
57” .210
68” .240
79” .270
90” .300

The measurements were given in inches from the start of the section. A section is made one piece at a time. It doesn't make sense to lay that out section dimensions in terms of total rod length since you just have to subtract the length back out when you lay out the taper on a form, hand mill or power mill, whatever you are using.
