Re: Duracane taper
#4There are 2 tapers for the Duracanes. 1- Ted Sinroe 1970's and 2- Tom Maxwell late 1970's to 1985. Which taper do you want?

Here are the duracane tappers.

30" .134 .264
36" .147 .275
42" .166 .295

Tom left the sections long so they could get two to three line wtgs. when trined to length. These tapers are shop measurements You will need to graph the Simroe taper to get 5" stations.

Re: Duracane taper
#10Can anyone explain the taper above for the SImroe Duracane?
Maybe it is because I am new at rod building, maybe it is the formatting, but I can’t for the life of me understand the numbers.

Re: Duracane taper
#11Sorry if this is not what you’re asking.
This is how I would read the Simroe taper:
Tip section is 46”, butt is 44”
Flat to flat dimensions measured from the tip:
At 0" .068”
11.5" .097
23" .125
34.5" .154
46" .182 tip
46” .180 butt
57” .210
68” .240
79” .270
90” .300

Re: Duracane taper
#13The measurements were given in inches from the start of the section. A section is made one piece at a time. It doesn't make sense to lay that out section dimensions in terms of total rod length since you just have to subtract the length back out when you lay out the taper on a form, hand mill or power mill, whatever you are using.
