The new Hardy Marquis LWT looks promising and made in Alnwick again.

That first Leland reel looks a lot like the Fishon/Caps reels that were offered a few years ago.

Recently I've become infatuated with the Hardy Bougle' in the smaller sizes. I have a 3.25" version on my Scott 7'10" 5 wt Bamboo Rod. I also use an original model Ross Gunnison 1 on it.

It took some time to put together the above setup.
A Bogdan Baby Trout with a 6’0” Todd Young Smidgen. While the rod is light, as with any bamboo, it needs some balance. The Bogdan not only adds the balance, but significant history to the match. And together, they fish beautifully.

The older (solid-faced) Abel reels also work well with bamboo, as the added weight of the face helps balance everything out. And the Abel cork drag can stop a train. I use an Abel #1 on a Young 7'-6" Perfectionist (4 wt) and took a 9# Atlantic Salmon on a #6 brown bomber with it. Can't say enough about any of the Abel's.

I really like the look of the Hardy Golden Sovereign on bamboo, I've not had one but I do plan to get one eventually.

I don't care what anybody sez, I like my Charlton. It is pure quality. I was using a cheap but nice looking reel last year in Alaska. Fishing for silvers but snagged a dog. He headed or the saltwater and froze the arbor. Wish I could afford a Charlton for salmon fishing.

The Orvis CFO and the Hardy JLH are always appropriate.

Paul Herman Tiny Trout. There is an interesting story behind this reel.

Take a look at the R. C. Alexander reels. They are lovely to use and lovely to behold.

While I do own a pile of older Hardy’s, I also fish a variety of Ross’s on bamboo.

Shakespeare International magnesium reels are beautiful.

I have several available, as well as Abel CFOs and more.

After first prototype of this Aluminum reel was being finalized, it felt a bit heavy for its intended use as a 5 weight. Using a weight reduction technique from a earlier Nickel Silver reel hopefully will bring the weight down, allowing it to be in both 5 and 6 weight versions. Perfection Fly Reel.

Newer design features with classic appearance make me enjoy the Adams reel. Vlad Reshenko's Trutta Perfetta is a performing beauty too! When it comes to Abel's, I prefer the earlier TR's.
