I realise it’s pretty rough and the photos aren’t very good but I won a Hardy perfect 3 7/8” from online auction in NZ for the princely sum of about $100 USD. Any guess on age range? Once it’s in hand I can take some more pictures

Hi, my first forum post. I am writing from Italy and I hope you will forgive me the mistakes, I use google translate ... I show you a handcrafted reel produced in Italy in the 90s. A Fiorini reel. The characteristics are as follows: the novelty that characterise this reel, is the reel made of magnetic metal. The body and the spool are made of anti-corodal anodised, the shaft the inside accessories and the screw are made of stainless steel. the spool is at magnetic blocking and very fast to extract, when the clutch is inserted and it goes in traction, it is impossible to extract it. The shaft that rotates on the body is an integral part of the clutch, which works directly on itself trough a buffer.

I received a 3 inch Farlow today and was wondering if it was made by or for them and when it was made? Nice tight reel.

Must be something in the air...

I have always wanted a screwback in fishable condition. Need to get a 444 Peach DT on it.

Well Andy, it looks like the steampunk craze has made its way to the world of reels…

I recently picked up a circa 1980s Hardy Perfect with three spare spools and soft case from a (now) local guy who used to run a fishing club in western Canada. Very pleased with it since it remains in great condition.

I just saw a Wagner reel for the first time. Guy was hanging it off his own rod too.
Nothing on this planet could tear my eyes away from it. Sublime.

I just bought this little gem on Ebay. A Hardy Sunbeam fly reel in the smallest size 23/4" with telephone latch and in war-time painted finish. Its from the second half of the 1940th. I guess, but from before 1949 when the Hardy Sunbeams got a centerscrew as spool-locker.
I actually didn´t buy this reel, for the reels sake but for the Hardy reel maker stamps inside, RR Robert Richardson reel maker at Hardys between 1938 and 1950. I didn`t have this Hardy reel maker presented min my "stabel" so...( there are around 40 known Hardy reel makers) When I got the reel I was very pleased, it was much better live than on the pictures, almost mint in the condition so that was great too. Hardy Sunbeams with a reel makers stamping are not often seen and I haven´t seen many Hardy Sunbeams with the telephone latch eighter, so I think I did a great buy!
