#345The Bill Ballan Trout Classic Series:
* Midge
* Baby Trout
* Large Trout
The Midge and Baby Trout models I purchased directly from Ballan when he first offered them back '89. The Large Trout was recently purchased after a two year search to complete the series. Many of you probably tired of my WTB adverts here on the forum, I know Nick likely did as he banned a couple of handfuls of scammers that responded to my ad saying they have a friend that's got just what I was searching for at a really good price!

#348I have the same three 3-piece Orvis rods as St Vrain Angler and use each of them often. If I were forced to keep just three rods, I could certainly make do with these three for the type of waters which I fish.

#349Here's a trio of lancewood valise rods. The top is a marked Chubb, the middle is probably a Chubb, and the bottom one is unmarked.

#351Here are 3 Orvis MCL rods from 1976. They all have the single downlocking screw reel seat with cork spacer. The 6 1/2' and the Seven-Three have a superfine grip while the Midge has a more traditional semi-cigar grip. Interestingly, there are three different bag styles: The earliest rod has the bright green bag with 3 slots, the second newest (Seven-Three in the middle) transitions to the beige bag and the newest of the bunch to a light green bag seen on many of the early graphite rods. The latter two bags have just two slots.
Cheers,
Joe
