#363Since you guys seem to like Featherweights and Heddon's here are 3 different types of featherweights :-)
For 20-25% of the going rate of the Hardy, the Heddon is a pretty decent reel. The foot is a bit thicker, so it won't fit all of the rods that my Hardys will, but it will fit enough to justify keeping it.
Cheers,
Joe

#371Three early Phillipson Paramounts with the plastic "root-beer" reel seat and so-called hammer handles: an 8 1/2-foot 5 oz. version, the 8 1/2-foot Dry Fly special at 5 1/2 oz. and an 8-foot 4 1/4 oz. This was the second-best fly rod in Phillipson's stable. I believe the gold-colored butt caps were meant to denote its high status.

#373Nice group of H-I.'s best rods. I've owned and fished all three -- the Tonka Queen still stands out.

#375Those Young reels are really nice. I only have one of them, unfortunately. Paul.

#376Here are the three most reviled Orvis bamboo rods or most beloved by the few that appreciate them. From left to right, the Seven/Three, the Midge, and the Nymph. Not the rods to take out West to fish the Missouri, but they do well here in the Driftless especially after the caddis and sulphurs are long gone. When the water is low and clear and delicate casts are needed for the tricos of late summer and small BWOs and midges of fall and winter, they come into their own. Their great roll casting ability is a plus on brushy streams too. Incredible casting feel, I swear I can feel my loop unfurl. But yes, you need to slow your casting stroke way, way down, which is not for everyone.
