Where are the dogs?

or however that dang word is written! : ) Use this forum to discuss those things that are related to, directly, or indirectly, fly fishing, i.e., tackle, catalogs, single malt scotch, cigar preferences, pipes, camera gear, etc. This is sort of an off topic area but one related to bamboo and fly fishing.

12 pups. We co-own Sally with a breeder in Seattle. We get to do fun stuff with her and the other owner gets a litter of pups. She had 12 last week. Mom and babies are doing well. She will come back to us in April.

Here are the pups. I wanted that fat little guy in the foreground but all are spoken for.

Princess Zeva as a puppy...

And now as our frightening guard dog.

She has the best nature of any dog I have had.
She wanted a puppy to play with so we got her one.

We lost this sweet girl about two months ago.
She was with my wife and I for 16 1/2 years, starting just weeks after our marriage.

We only made it about a couple weeks until we were rescued again by this little one.
Image

She's a handful. She was only nine weeks old when we got her, and we didn't quite remember how much work a puppy can be. Rod making has slowed a bit, but should pick up again now that I'm fairly confident that she won't eat a rod when I'm not looking.

Here’s Chelsea, my longtime companion at home, on the road, and in the field. She’s ten now and has lost her vision, but I’ll be tying soft hackles with her partridge feathers for a long, long time. She’s kissed brookies from Wisconsin, Gila trout in New Mexico, and lots of wild fish in between.

Yup... Jäger, my heart dog. Gone ten years next month... After growing up in a house with a Chesapeake to guard three growing boys and retrieve ducks or anything else that fell from the sky, my own first dog once my bachelor police/military life ended was a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.

Which then led to also acquiring a wife at 50 years of age...

Not so cute at 2:30 in the morning.

We've had chessie's for 40 years this is our first spaniel, I think we picked the wrong pup, they are full of spit and vinegar.
A parting shot, no Gus that's not a ruffed grouse.

Oops... sorry - I missed when you posted.

No... that's about 20 minutes from home in Kalifish, Montana (about half way between Kalispell and Whitefish). Some of the farmland in the ox-bows of the Flathead in the general area of Creston. A local friend I knew from the paratrooper/special forces world is a Farmer's insurance broker now - insurance brokers seem to know every farmer and rancher within a hundred miles, and he/we have access to lots of the fields down there. Lots and lots of pheasants. Might have never gotten there as wild birds originally, but they're sure as hell wild now.

It sure beats hooking up the travel trailer and making the trip over to the Conrad/Ledger area - or worse, all the way east to around Malta.
