Many of you have probably owned a copy of Henshall's Book of the Black Bass thanks to one of the 400,000 reprints by B.A.S.S. Well, far more interesting (in my opinion) is Dr. Henshall's Autobiography, which was serialized in 1919-1921 and never released until now in book form. The new release of the work, edited and with an intro by noted bass fishing authority Clyde Drury, is one of the most interesting nineteenth century fishing accounts ever written--and has a lot to offer those interested in fly fishing, as Henshall was extremely important in promoting fly fishing for bass, originating the hair bug, and sponsoring fish culturation. It is a fascinating read. It's available from The Whitefish Press, along with other books of interest to the fly fisherman. --Dr. ToddDr. Todd's Fishing History Blog
