#22Nice rods -- it makes me nostalgic for the days of the great department stores -- and for when Eddie Bauer actually sold sporting goods.

#24Teter,
The dept store rods always remind me of the movie "Mans Favorite Sport"
Was Marshall Fields an associated company of Macy's???

I have an 81/2 2F rod with that exact seat and plain tube sliding band as this 7 footer. I knew it was a Heddon product but no markings were left anywhere to determine under which name it had been sold. So was this seat only made for Folsom Arms trade rods ?
Cheers to all !

#26No, the seat was used on numerous trade rods, as well as the elusive Heddon #11 "Biltwell".baetisrodhani wrote:Hi,reelill wrote:A Couple more Folsoms, an 8 1/2' #1515 and a 7' #1512

#28Hi, I have a Bob Hall Deluxe which is a Heddon Made Model 35 - it has all the Model 35 attributes, just a different wrap scheme
Now, I think I have added some pictures - if this worked -it is only because I am lucky and even a blind hog can find an acorn.
Hope the pictures come - it is a very nice 8.5, 2F Heddon and like I said, really a Model 35 grade.
Hey, I did it! Thanks for the help!

#29I agree, pictures are frustratingly hard to add.
I couldn't log into the sidebar to PhotoBucket to add them that way.
So I went to PhotoBucket, and copied the picture details (see below where to click)
You then paste that into your message. It seems to work for me.
it'll look like a couple of lines, starting with
{url=http:
and ending with {/img}{/url}
(only with square brackets [] instead of curly {})
Cheers

#31Bosstownbob... Can you post more photos of your Greenleaf? I have a very similar one I am getting ready to restore. I like how your rod shows a little grain beneath the green. Is it original? Thank you so much.Bosstownbob wrote:An 8ft Greenleaf...

#32My pleasure...but, I only have a few of mostly the same shots. I'll take some soon that show more of the rod. One tip has a repair wrap and my eyes can't tell if the color is a little off on that one but the brown does show through the green with a grain. Best...

#33...here are a few more I just took. I thought as long as I lined it up I may as well fish it. The rod has an overcoat but is original underneath. The malachite doesn't seem to lay down evenly so I wouldn't worry too much how the green blends in but there is grain. This is one Heddon that matches those daisys...

#34Stunning rod, Bosstownbob. Thank you so much for showing more photos. You are probably hooking up with a fish as I write this. Awesome!

#37Yup...a royal trude. It is uncanny how these wild trout will take them...this is a veritable fish hatchery, though. Once we measured trout by the pound...now it is over run with browns. HI work will do that...Due to lack of ag in that photo of the stream that water is the same as it was 100 years ago and capable of supporting 18 inch brook trout. I've caught them there...and browns up to 9 pounds. Well...Jay did on his Winston glass 3wt. My largest was 24 inches. But, these lightweight Heddons are made for this water. This one does change colors in the light from the malachite and is quite dark in the trout photo. Other times it seems just like browntone cane with a hint of mint. Best...

#38I would love to fish that stretch some day. Beautiful. As for a contribution to this post, here is one of mine with what I call, and I may have picked up the term here, bumble bee wraps (It is different from space dye as the darker lines have variable widths and smoother edges.) When I bought this one, I thought these wraps were super retro-cool, but I have a few snobby friends who don't like them. ha ha. Oh well. I bought the rod because it was the cheapest one I could find in this taper. I now have a higher grade, but the taper is nearly identical, and I think I prefer the grip on the #8. GREAT taper, BTW, one of my favorite 8.5 footers.

#39Rmnp: I love those bumblebee wraps. I also like that the agate is matched to the threads.
What size is that stripping guide? I need to work on my Heddon #17 anyway, and I thought I would change the minuscule stripping guide while I'm at it.
