Imagemy favorite reel lately, Farlow BWP with Fenwick FF80 B series and the species the reel was intended for.

Nice Valdex Sarunas. Is that a narrow or a wide spool?

Thanks! This one is narrow, but I have both. Wide one doesnt fit on any of my rods.. :D I do not want to file reel foot to fit so it stays as it is right now.

P.S. I replied private message to sisyphusmpn

Understand your reluctance to file it. The foot of my wide spool had already been filed down before I found it, which spared me the dilemma.

Can you post that filed reel feet here or in private message? Thanks!

Will send you a PM with a picture of the Valdex next time I see it. I am not often at the place it is at these days. But it’s just a simple shortening of the front end of the foot when set up LHW.

The mighty Pflueger Medalist, 1492 size. Pfoot installed by Russ Gabel of Frazier Mtn, and expertly done I might add. Mounted on a 6' Duracane, half of a DT4, a great combo for the tight stream in the background. I have finer reels, but for this sort of combat fishing I take along the Medalist.

Pretty wild Brown Trout caught in early June on the <redacted>.

Reel is a two screw lineguard Featherweight on a pre-fire Leonard 38H.

And just for fun, I added a snap of our old pal Afgantrout, aka Michael Simon. He started this thread back in '07, 70 pages ago! He's on the far left. A gang of us had a good day fishing, lying, and eating a baked bean lunch back in May.

Great post PK! I miss Afgantrout's posts of wonderful rods and reels, but yours are every bit as good!

Aw shucks, John.

I'll pass your regards on to Michael. He's had some challenges but I suspect you haven't seen the last of him here.

Leonard-Mills 44, F.E. Thomas 7 1/2', Andy's Yellow Stonefly. (Andy's on the far right in above pic).

I hope we haven't seen the last of him. A good man with a passion for the history of our sport.

Permit on a fly....... "(not a big one)" doesn't matter - any Permit on a fly is a major deal! Well done Pancho!
