Heddon Pal Pro Weight 6783 - Age please?

#1

Post by Shelbybr »

I have an old Heddon Pal Pro Weight 6783. It's marked on two lines. "Heddon Pal Pro Weight" and "#6783-61"
It appears to be fiberglass, yellowish, two pieces, 6' long. There's a rubber o-ring on the inner part of the connection.
Sorry, I don't know all the terminology, so I'm just describing what it looks like. ;)
The handle is cork, has a drop mount with a trigger and a silver metal thumb-screw lock. It seems to be clear plastic. It's painted brown and the paint is wearing off at the trigger. The base of the rod at the handle is aluminum.
I'd like to know more about the model, when it was made and how long they produced it. I've just recently started fishing again and this is the heavier rod I have. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Sharon

You should get better results on this fiberglass forum.

A quick check of my catalogs show these were introduced in 1963 and would sell through 1969.

Good grief, I had no idea it was that old! I was expecting maybe mid-80's.

Thanks so much for helping, you've given me a great start already. I'll post over on that forum and see what I can find out.

Cheers,
Sharon
