No, glue lines are not a problem, as you may know some gillums have glue lines and phillipsons, its purely cosmetic (my opinon)

Bob, nice rod from Wyatt. What length/line weight?
Watercolorman, nice Thomas Fairy. It's an awesome taper and I was pleased to see a proportionate 5" grip on your rod! IMO, anything larger and you lose the feel and joy of fishing a light rod. |

Hi, Matt:
Thanks. It's a 7'2" 3/2 3wt, maybe a 4 in close. The grip is about 5" and is like one I saw on a Hawes. (Thought I had put that info in at the same time I posted the pic (first ever), but it seems to have disappeared. One step at a time.) B |

Those are 2 beauties. I like the look of the Hawes grip on the Dietrich. The FET is a wonderful rod and A.J. even did the FET style signature wrap.

Recieved not too long ago a J.C. Zimney Quad 98Q 7' 2/2 4wt. A terrific caster with loads of power for long casts. Nice medium-fast+ action and beautifully
finished.

I have been on actively looking for nice old Eustis"y" Edwards rods the past few months. It has been a tough challenge as there don't seem to be
many. I picked this rod up on yabE. It was bruised and battered almost beyond recognition, but below the surface was a rod just waiting to be fished once
more. It is a clearly marked on the reel seat Winchester 6155 which according to records is a Eustis handmade. It was beautfully brought back to life by Art
Parramoure. I will add more pics but am having trouble loading them right now. The rod is an 8'-6" 5wt with just a butter smooth medium action. I
can't wait to fish it!!

As I mentioned in my prior post, I have been on the lookout for Eustis"y" Edwards. While there is some question as to whether Eustis actually made
these, there is no doubt it was a taper devised by him and wrap scheme off his own. Here is one of two of the famous Winchester Wand Rod's I have been
able to get my hands on. The other Wand I own is an exact duplicate of this rod and in equally as nice of condition. Suprisingly they came out of the same
collection and found their way to two kind folks who were willing to sell them to me. This is one of the nicest looking and best casting 7' foot 3wts I
have had the priveledge of owning.

Another Eustis creation. This is one just prior to his death. It is an 8'-6" A&F Triton with the writing on the butt in Eustis's
handwriting. The rod is unique not only in the spectacular signature wraps but in that is comes with three tips. The extra tip is a tad lighter (4wt) than
the others may be an Edwards replacement. These pictures are just prior to its restoration by Bill "Streamer" Abrams, who did just and incredible
job. I have cast this rod and it just sings with a 5wt line.

NorthBranch, that Winchester 7' 3wt is one superb looking little rod.
I can imagine how smooth and delicate it'll cast. Lucky you!! And the cork on that grip is spectacular indeed. Wish I were in your shoes. Congratulations on the finds!! Jeremy. |

Alan, very nice F.E. replica, ( I have 3 or 4 I think) will have to bring them out so we can cast them. NB, sweet looking Edwards. You guys are making me want to get back into collecting again. Nice rods.

7' 3/2 3wt Hollowbuilt | #1059 | ||
|
Folks,
I recently came across a wonderful little med/ fast 7ft 3/2 3wt hollowbuilt that tips the scales at a gentle 2.6 oz. that Mpls. rodmaker Dave Norling has allowed me. At a recent caneophiles gathering in neighboring Wisconsin this fall, this was cast by a few folks. The word got to me and I fell in love yet again! Maybe I'm easy but when you have a rod that handles an SA WF3F GPX line as good as this one does it's tough to say you'll never have a flyrod less than 7'6"! I'm guilty as charged.
This little rod is a fine little 3wt that suits my med sized spring creeks perfectly. Thank you David! Jeremy. |
