Posts: 9 04/11/2009 16:23	Tags : None I'm not a collector...any rod I have I fish with, but I just recently concluded a deal on ebay for a couple of bamboo rods. One is a "Hiawatha"..that was all the info the seller had, ( at one point I could have sworn it was being listed a Montague with Hiawatha as the model, but it seems I was wrong. The photo of the rod, it looks clean, with both tips present. 9 ft long, line weight (oh yeah...wait until you here this) is "somewhere between 5-7." (Right hand to God, that was the response I got) the other rod is a 8.5 South bend..model undecribed, one tip, line wt est as 6 or 7... I haven't seen either one of these rods first hand yet..but they are on their way to me..but can anyone take a wild stab with these shreds of info and make a guess as to the value?

Posts: 285 04/11/2009 16:41 Sic transit piscatoria Clark's	Hiawatha was the trade name of the Gamble Stores, a chain of automotive supply/sporting goods stores in the Midwest. They did not make any fishing tackle, so Montague would be a fine guess (Horrocks-Ibbotson is also another candidate). You'll definitely need to post pics of the South Bend as they made many, many models over the years. -- Dr. Todd

Posts: 48 04/11/2009 17:13	If it is the Hiawatha rod that shows up in the completed listings, I would guess that it is an H&I. There is another completed auction of three rods, one of which is supposed to be a Hiawatha. The grips on either of these are not so much like the Montague's I have seen, but more like the H&I rods I have seen. This seller (first of above) seems to do a lot of rebuilds and tends to use the same maroon thread on them. He has several rebuilds out there on auction now. Dean
