My favorite rod is my only bamboo rod - a Dave Norling 8' 5wt 2/2 hollow. He calls it his "Spring Creek" model. It does just about everything I
need.

This is not a fair question! But, if I had to pick one, my Gillum 7'6" 2/2 5 wt is pretty exceptional in its casting feel. It has a beautiful release
that is just a shade nicer than the equivalent Payne 100H. There are a hell of a bunch of second bests, but I won't stray from your request that I name the
one rod in my quiver which is best. Ric

No real favorites. The ones I have fished the most so far this year are a Dave Male 7 1/2' for a 5 weight, my Granger Champion 8642, and my 7' Heddon
Featherweight for a 4 weight built for Folsom Arms. All are very sweet and fit my style most well!

My 7' 6", hollow fluted, 5 weight hands down. This rod will do it all from very close to way out there if need be.
Like paxlev said,"It is not a fair question!". I like all the others equally well depending on season and species. Ask me during steelhead seasion and I will tell you my 10' 6", hollow fluted, 8 weight, two handed steelhead/ salmon rod hands down. Ask me during salmon seasion and I will tell you my 9' ,hollow fluted, 9 weight, salmon rod hands down. I am going fishing, fishbum |

Today, for example, I was fishing my "late model" Orvis Far & Fine on a local spring creek, 10 minutes from my house.
It is simply a terrific 3 3/4 oz. 7 1/2-foot taper for a WF-5-F. Very accurate and positive on set-up as well. And I especially like the "modern" reversed half-Wells grip and uplock reel seat. It's my current "favorite"...at least for today! Regards, Flyman

My current favorite rods are a 4wt Perfectionist clone by Art Weiler and a Heddon #10 7.5 1&1/2F that likes a 5wt. The sulfurs are just starting here in
NJ and to my mind these rods are perfect for the streams I fish.

Maxwell/Leonard 39DF-4 taper. Crisp, progressive dry fly rod with a very sweet release. Very accurate. Sulphurs are starting in Westchester as well. Nice
spinner fall last night. This rod was perfect.

This year I have been stuck on my Dave Male 7'3" 3/2 4/5 and a Guba/Bacon Payne 102 , 8' 2/2. I could get by fine with either of these rods but I
also love my Guba Payne 97 and my Heddons.

My 7 1/2' Dana Gray "Carlson Four" 3/2, 4/5wt. The perfect blend of power, subtleness, and delicacy. Perfect for small to medium streams and the
fish that are in them. So far, this is the best rod I've ever owned!

You keep your rods in a quiver?
Heddon #13 7 1/2 foot featherweight. Nothing is original on this rod except the bamboo. This is my favorite for today. Aaron |

For the last three weeks -chasing Mothers Day Caddis- I would say an old Leonard model 50. What a versatile rod.

As has been stated not really fair, spring creek fishing is one rod, smallmouth totally different, brookie fishing going short, but if I had to pick one rod of
the bunch because of its versatility it would be my 8'6" Mike Clark Gierach Best 5 wt because it can streamer fish in early spring and dry fly through
summer.

My current favorite rod is an old FE Thomas. Actually, all my current rods are old FE Thomas' (See - I told you I was going crazy....) |

Summers 275 (again). I just got back from 5 days in the Driftless area with the Sulfurs, bwo and a few Hendricksons to make life interesting. I brought and
used 5 rods but the 275 stood out from the others. It always does.

I have put together a nice collection of rods in the past few years thanks mainly to this forum and the friends I've made along the way. While there are
many fabulous builders out there both past and present, the rod I fish most on my favorite river in the Ardennes of Belgium is my South Creek Gierach Sig
7' 9". The rod is drop dead gorgeous and last summer my dream came true when Mike and Kath closed shop and took me out to their beautiful waters
somewhere in Colorado. I caught my very first Cutt with Mike looking on with approval. I don't know what it is with that rod, but I can drop a fly in the
most difficult of places. It took me a while to cast it well, but it is my "go to rod" now and I use it almost all the time. I think it's the
people that built it that make it that much more special to me.

My favorite is my Payne 98. However my Kusse 7' 4wt quad runs a close second.
The man who coined the phrase "Money can't buy happiness", never bought himself a Bamboo fly rod!
