YOUR THOUGHTS AND PAYERS NEEDED! |
Lead | ||
|
Our very own Rob Smith "Mr. Pentalux" is going in for heart surgery this Friday. Please keep him in your thoughts and payers! Rob is too young for
this and has many great things left to accomplish in this life with regards to his fine rods he has already built over the year! We just had a wonderful review
in Japan's premier fly fishing magazine about fishing cane in the salt but this has put most everything on hold for now! So please wish him well. He's
a throw back to the rod builders of yesterday with concepts for the future of our sport! He has the same condition that John Ritter on three's company fame
passed away from but in Rob's case they have found it in time. Thanks!

I too can be added to the cacophanous chorus of prayers and well wishes heading his way. We should all stop and pause though and think what a miracle it is to
live in an age and a place where opening a mans chest and repairing his heart is considered routine, an operation performed in even the most rural of hospitals
by any surgeon considered merely competent. When Mr. Smith, and most of the rest of us, were born, the first indication of a problem like this would have been
when he actually keeled over, whiich was just as well since even if you knew about it, there was absolutely nothing that could be done. We are priveleged to
live in extraordinary times.
The good news is that the prognosis for this condition is very good if caught, as it appears it has been here. Open heart surgery is no picnic, and never to be taken lightly, but it is also an everyday miracle. Good luck Pentalux, and remember, Chicks dig scars. |

Rob;
Having gone through this myself this past May, I can say that there are brighter days ahead! Do exactly what your doctors/nurses tell you, be patient but determined in your rehab and you will feel better soon. And, if they suggest lifestyle changes - MAKE 'EM! You are in my prayers. Pat "He told us about Christ's disciples being fisherman, and we were left to assume...that all great fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly
fisherman and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."

God Bless you ALL! Thank you so very much for all your prayers and thoughts - The power of intercessory prayer is beyond words - nothing short of miraculous. I
thank God and I thank all of you for your Prayers and spirit. I will no longer be having open heart surgery any time soon!
I realize I would have pulled through just fine but, friends, I was sitting in my lawyers office yesterday less than 12 hrs before I was to report to the hospital for my open heart surgery. Multiple tests have all confirmed the level of valvular regurgitation and particularly the size of my aorta now require surgery to prevent dissection. My wife and I were updating our wills when my cell phone rang - It was my cardiologist.. Apparently the CT scan just done, as an added request from the surgeon, shows besides no blockage or other issues, a marked change in the size of my aorta!?!?.... I had already been preadmitted, would be under right now!!! -- SEEMS MY VALVE AND MOST DRAMATICALLY MY AORTA HAVE SUDDENLY RETURNED TO #'S THAT I HAD YEARS AGO - WELL UNDER THE NUMBERS REQUIRING SURGERY. They have no explanation as I had too many ecco's and an MRI confirming the previous numbers... I do. God Bless you ALL! I'm heading down to the shop!!! Rob |

Rob, You must be like me, God has me on this planet to do a certain number of good things. The best part is I'm so far behind I may never die! Take care
