Folsom 8' Featherweight | #1425
|
I've been looking for this rod (at the right price) for some time. It has been restored and modified from the original. I bought it to fish I'm not a
collector more like a gatherer.
Folsom 8' 2/2 0F Featherweight by Heddon. # 1518 ~ with the 1522 being the #17 it looks like this would match the #14 in the Heddon lineup. This one will fit well with the Heddon 7.5' 0 3/4F Featherweight.

I agree, very nice rod Alan.
I like to see the old rods get fished and restored. To me, it is what collecting bamboo is about.

Thanks guys, took it fishing twice now and its real sweet on the water, cast like a dream. Heddon sure made some nice fishing rods for us to use. Bob knows how
long I've been looking for this rod. Well worth the wait.
GA I must be nice having a friend like Bill. There's a rod you will keep a lifetime, way to go. Now get out there and fish it hard and often. . . |

Kushner Parabolic- Exelereme | #1431

Here's a nice little rod that is approximately 6' 5" in length and has two tips. I like it with a 4 wt. line. This rod, I was told, was one of Mr.
Kushner's personal rods.

This is Kushner #3 for me and I do not plan on letting this one slip away like the other two. I had the opportunity to purchase the rod a dozen years ago but
passed on it and chose two other Kushner rods instead; the one that Firehole owns and one that went to Bob Summers. One can clearly see and feel the influence
of PHY in this rod as it is parabolic (it has a regressive taper) and it has beautiful flaming.

Scott, great looking rod and parabolic to boot. . . The cork going into the reel seat is detailed a little differently.

WC, You are right about the reel seat/grip; it is something I had not seen before. As you are probably aware, Morris was known to experiment and think outside
the box. I doubt if there are two rods that are identical. Even the two tips of this rod are different. One is a dry-fly tip and the other is presumably for
wet fly work as it is heavier. Scott

It is a beautiful rod. As for the grip, it looks like he reversed the infamous "peckerhead" design.

Teter-
It's just the picture that gives that impression. On the Kushner rod, there is a sharp transition in the cork from seat to grip instead of a rounded transition like the "peckerhead". What a name for a grip... I wonder who came up with that one? Scott |
