I like the Orvis BBS's as well I have a few IIs and IIIs. they're affordable and in titanium they have a nice old school look. If you can, get the
older versions made in England they just seem a little smoother, newer or new spools will fit the older versions fine.

My Thramer 204L really likes a Galvan OB-3...and I sold another OB-3 to a board member who reported that he likes it very much as well...but I do like to kind
of keep it as "contemporary maker/comtemporary reel, classic maker/classic reel" type of system...dj

Godfrey (various sizes and models) Edel (vom Hofe Peerless 2 1/2" replica) Hermann Trout Saracione Deluxes Walkers |

BobS,
It looks like you have a lot of duplicates on those reels. If you ever want to get rid of maybe the Godfrey Little Brook Trout just remember me! :-) Cris |

Actually, Cris, there are no duplicates among those reels. I do have just one Brook Trout, a 274. Would very much like to have one of the smaller ones,
too....so it may be a while before you hear from me.

Ross San Miguels, CFOs, and Battenkill Multipliers all work fine for me.

I use Pflueger Medalists, 1595, 1595 1/2, & 1598 on my bamboo rods. Thew work fine with SYLK DT lines although I did have to take a file to the foot of the
one I use with my Ed M. Hunter (Phillipson) to fit the foot to the reel seat.

The only Hardy reels I own are some I bought back in the 1980s before the prices became astronomical. They've priced themselves out of my world, since
then. I have NO qualms what-so-ever about putting one of my old workhorse, American Pfluegers on a good bamboo. I'm just a fisherman.....I'll take
function over fashion, any day.

When I was into light graphite rods I had trouble finding reels light enough to match them. The answer: the old Meisselbach-Catucci bakelite reels. I didn't mind putting an 80 year old reel on a new rod. Plus they just look calssy to me. The Ross reels have done well by me - good balance of looks, cost, and performance. |

Sure. The Hardy LRH is my go-to reel for 8-foot rods. I also like other rods in the Lightweight series, plus Bougles and Perfects. From Orvis, the Battenkills
always look good and perform well on bamboo, as of course do C.F.O.'s. Less classic in appearance, but still appropriate for bamboo, are the BBS series
from Orvis, the Abel TR2 and the Ross Cimarron.
And of course anything in the Vom Hofe/Peerless/Leonard tradition. Here's a Bellinger MK I

CFO III, IV, V (late 70's early 80's models) Hardy LRH lightweight, Princess, Marquis #4, Ross San Miguel 2, Abel TR light, TR1, 2 J.W. young and son
Pridex, A.F.Meisselbach 627 Rainbow, Numerous Pfluger Medalist 1492 and 1494 all with 1Pfoot reelseats and a small Bill Ballan. Oh yeah a old Heddon 310 that
dosen't get fished anymore since I dropped it and broke the cheap reel seat. The CFO's get fished the most though.
