I bought this 3" all brass reel a while ago - it was advised to be a Wyers Frères, Paris (Redditch) reel but it has no markings. A few roman numbers
scratched into different parts Heaton or ?). I bought it mainly due to I just cannot resist a brass reel never polished - they are just looking so good. But do
anybody recon. the model or have other good and informative thoughts - I'll appreciate your comments !
Heinz
No, on mine the reelseat and that bar is one piece of brass (not riveted like yours)
On a more carefull study of what I thought could be roman numbers - I'm not so sure anymore ?

By any chance, is there a number on the bar holding the reel seat like the one in this photo?

Dustnstuff, I think that the number relates to the size of the reel and I also think that is an Aberdeen, Scotland made reel made around 1880's- I have a
few of that model, is it similar to the reel second from the right?
Colin,
I have a number of these #10 & #8 size reels and at least two of them are named. One is a MURRAY from Brechem size 10 and the other is a W. Garden from
Aberdeen and is a size 8. The others are not named. Nice trade reels and very well made. I was trying to fine out if there was a number on the reel in
question as that might have helped with an ID. Looks like it back to the drawing board on this one.
