Likely both.
"When all the rods and a lot of reels, lines, leader boxes, et cetera, had been sold, the gang paid at the cashier's
window for what they'd bought and then made a bee line for the rug room to test their rods. I put mine together, tested it for a moment or so, and then
started to show it to men I knew. Not a man was interested in my rod. They all, without a single exception, tried to get me to look at theirs. Extraordinary,
how self centered most men are. Have you noticed it? "

I expect it's to avoid missing any good stuff. Perhaps the the moderators could merge the two threads into one, so that we only have one to worry about?
There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people.
For creating a truly monumental disaster, you need people with high IQs. |

Maybe instead of what is your favorite 8 ' 5 weight it should be what is your favorite of the two what direction are we headed in posts. This is my
favorite as we have Horace.

I find it hard to believe that a less civilized dialog is the only way to make a more interesting and healthy board. I myself find the knowledge and ideas
shared here to be engaging and entertaining. Leave the anger, antagonisms and politics for the broadcast news stations. I think maybe the 'loss' is
something more akin to maturity. Could it be that a lot of people here have seen-it-all with respect to the content and simply lack the interest to participate
with the same vigor that they once did? Are we too experienced with regard to our sport? Something like this 'trend' is happening on boards of all
kinds. P.S. To an earlier post regarding the sport of kings; I think it's the sport of falconry isn't it? P.S.S. Perhaps I should have posted;
"The sport of kings isn't horse-racing you idiot, it's falconry." -P

Actually, I think the Sport of Kings is idiot racing, you falcon.
Dave, actually I'm represented on both threads; both this one -- the best -- and the other one -- the best. As to which of the threads contains my best contribution, I'd have to say it's the one called "We've lost our direction". Yours in falconry, Benbow

As I recall, at different times in history and in different parts of the world it has been both horse racing and falconry. We have a timeless ("The
Little Forum That Time Forgot" and all that) and international forum. Where you stand depends on where you sit... or something along those lines. I
think we should call that one a draw before it erupts into something else.

Just doing my small part to insure that this thread reaches nine pages just like the other one. When they reach parity, I can't wait to sticky them both
just to give bdcanefly a heart attack.

My vote goes to falconry. Nothing rolls off the tongue like "yours in falconry"!
Yours in horse racing, yours in checkers, yours in "I'll nail your privates to the castle gate"just doesn't have that poetic grace. bobbyg...."I love this thread better than the same thread", as the myopic wrapper from Dowagiac said. |

A bunch of seasons ago, before I bought my boat (o.k, 1989, - time goes fast at my age!) and I was bow hunting near home, I had an experience I'll not
forget.
Sitting in my stand, all dolled up in camo. to include face-gear, this large Redtail Hawk came came into view as she glided (?? that sounds awkward) through the trees and landed on a tree branch approx. 60 yds away. I dropped my hand and scratched the tree trunk opposite her direction so she wouldn't detect motion. Her head swivelled around, glared right me and w/o moving my arm I scratched again. Now I'm sitting approx. 12 ft up this tree and the adjacent tree ""tendrils"/branch tip/buds were 2 ft away from my arrowhead and that was resting on the bow's arrow rest. Maybe they were 4 ft out. That bird glided/swooped off that branch, made two quick wing flaps and was at me in a fla_sh! She veered away between that adjacent tree branch and my arrow's broadhead and I heard her wings "tip" those branches! Like scared the P-jesus out of me it happened so fast! Luckily I was seated.... The following evening she came to that tree again. this time I just watched... Cool birds! Jeremy. edit: I got my one and only buck that season from that stand!
