While composing the News of the Week for my blog, I ran across this nifty article by Chris Yates on
noted British maker Edward Barder. Some might recognize Barder from the recent film The Lost World of Mr. Hardy. It's definitely worth reading. --

I know it was a while ago but I own a Barder rod - 8ft. 5wt - two piece. I have had the rod for 8 years and used it for most of my river fishing. Let me know if you are still interested in more details Phil |

I believe the current waiting list for a Barder rod is nearing three years and very probably growing with each passing day.

I'm always a little bit sceptical about this long waiting list. in order to interpret this you would need to know how much rods some one made per month.
Otherwise some one cold get the impression that hundreds of people waiting of their rods but there are maybe only 30.

I'm not surprised Edward's waiting list is expanding. The Hardy movie has not hurt I'm sure, and I've seen increased press in UK mags as well
as mention in the US. He also makes coarse angling rods, for which he is quite well known.....

phil, yes I am always interested in comments and all informations on the Barder rods.
During the last exchange of mail with Mr. Barder, he told me I had a waiting time of 15 months for one rod. This date of the end of September is not very old. Eric |
