Joe, you'll need to give us a lot more info than this. Length, model number & pictures would help.
No matter how great one's enthusiasm and tools, the hand will ultimately be the deciding factor. It's innately there, or not. It has become that simple a fact. He and I stand together on that truth - it's in your hands, period. ~ Glenn Brackett, foreward "The Lovely Reed" |

Joe, you don't seem to be getting much help. The long and short of it with a 9' Horrocks-Ibbotson rod in however good shape is that there's almost no market for one. Except for a few shorter rods--the Tonka Series at 7' and 7'9"--H-I rods don't have a following. Your 9-footer might work pretty well for some sorts of fishing--with weighted nymphs and streamers, for instance. But it simply isn't very marketable, not even if it has two full-length tips. As specific as I can be about worth: In his 1999 Value Guide for Bamboo Fly Rods, Dick Spurr rated the H-I President 9' 3/2, their top of the line 9-footer in very good condition at $250. I doubt one would bring that today if a buyer could be found.
