While at the Indy Fly Fishing show I visited the Wanigas Rod Company booth. Wanigas is back in business and I was surprised to see that they had alot of Pickard and Barch rods in stock.

They also offer rods made by Mark McKellip (Bay City) who is up and coming hard.

To my knowledge - no glass rods - just bamboo.

I love my 7' Wanigas glass (1970 purchase from Art's shop on Sheridan Road). I will have to check them out. I did receive a Christmas card and note from Art again but as classy as always, never mentioned Wanigas is up and running. He is a treasure.

The Wanigas Rod Co name has indeed been resurrected.
I wish the new proprietor success. |
