First off, I'd like to say that in the spirit of all things fishing and of this board more particularly I am profoundly sorry to learn of George's passing.
Second, I had a most-of-the-way-to-finished rod on order from George and I'd like to see if I can get it finished, primarily out of a wish to honour a fine rod-maker and, in distinctly second place, to salvage what I can from this sad situation.
Basically, I had a Harry's Rod from George which was due for delivery by end of March. Last I heard (24 Jan) was that the blank was glued and that he was putting the grip on. Assuming I can get the rod identified in his workshop (and I have made no enquiries as yet, as you will appreciate), would any rod-maker be willing (for a price, naturally) to finish the job? It would seem such a waste of George's talent simply to let it go to the rubbish dump or get burnt--not at all in the spirit of the Starlight Creek Angling Society. While I have paid a 50% deposit, I stress that I'd absolutely rather lose that than cause George's next-of-kin even a second's concern.
If any of you are interested in this project perhaps you'd let me know.
Best to all
Jolyon
