I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, but "cut and paste" will work..... sorry. I'd appreciate any information on the reel.
It's 3 3/8" diameter, and 7/8" wide, and I thought it to be a Dingley. The caged spool has 10 rods instead of the usual 8 that I see on some of
the reels posted.

Nice reel, finish is very good. The stamped 'D' is a dead giveaway.
You have to download your photos to a file sharing website like Photobucket then you can easily post them.
Here is your reel!
There, all your pictures are up H35.
Lots of finish left, appears to have signs of lacquer still on the reel. Either not had much use or very well taken care of.
The past is never far......

Thanks for posting the jpg, Sparquero... if you can put the other two up as well, I'd appreciate it. I thought with the AOL address would be a "file
sharing" website. Yeah... the knob is kinda pretty... ... I think it's "ivorine"?
Mark's correct. The Wm Mills' Dingleys are some of the coolest: Evidence that the old Leonard firm orders from the Leonardo of English reels. Tradition
& Americana.
I can see the carefully built oak boxes with dozens of Dingley-made reels crossing the seas, docked into NYC & being thrown onto early Ford trucks for the
short trek to the Mills' shop. Can't get much better than that.
This is also a 3 1/2" Mills marked Dingley with less pins and a different latch. Does anyone know the relative dating of the two different styles, albeit
made for export to the same NYC retailer/ TIA

look for photos (on this board) of Shoeless Joe's Dingley marked for Sharpes of Aberdeen.
We can date his hand-inscribed reel to 1920 - the year Sharpes opened for business.

your reel looks as if it was never used , almost all the finish still on it , very nice , just a wonderfull looking reel , i'm not one for ageing reels , i
can only say older or newer , i'll leave that up to better experts then me , i do have a matching set that i know one was done back when walter was running
the shop and i have one that is alot newer that was when son ernest was running the shop , same reel in size and casting , just a few things done not the same
, changes like brass instead of harden steel
your reel is one of my fav's that the dingley shop made , for looks , i like mine alot on 7 to 7 1/2 ft bamboo rods , classy looking outfit

Thanks Richard. I do admire the pins and the telephone latch but I am not proficient enough with adjectives to describe the finish; but I like it.
