I'm going to his shop at the end of the month, or the beginning of the next, to order a rod or two. I have cast a few at the summerset show, they were
nice. Perhap's a perfectionist taper from him is in order. I'll revisit this post and give you an update when I get back.
If there was a rod you were meaning to inquire about, let me know. I'll give you my 2 cents of it, on your behalf. By the way, from the little I know of him, he seems like a true gentleman on the phone. Returned a phone call after I left a message for him and talked very honestly about his rod's and actions. Something about this bamboo community that attracts high quality people. I must comment also, I'm rather new to this bamboo addiction. I have purchased two rod's from "Dreamcatcher's" this year, excellent rod's that are wonderful to cast and play fish on. On another note, Jonas and Jim from the feathered-hook BNB are also real class act's. They have a wide selection of rod choices that can make you dizzy and giddy all at once. |

I currently have three of his rods, a 212, 193, and a Perfectionist. He has also done several restorations for me. His workmanship is excellent and he will go
out of his way to make sure you get the right rod. You will not be disappointed.

I have a Weiler 71/2-foot 5-weight, not a Garrison taper, one of his "Kreider-derived" tapers. It's a very nice rod to look at, with beautiful flaming, and it casts great and, yes, they're a very good buy. I posted a couple of pictures of it on the "Got a New Rod?" thread a week or two ago. |

Teter,
That rod that you posted on "Got a new rod" is really nice! I like the color combination, the darker cane and the golden silks - beautiful! That was always my favorite rod from Mr. Weiler's catalog. I've heard many people describe Mr. Weiler as one of the hardest working makers in the country, after visiting him a few times I know why. I always felt like I was in his way as he buzzed around to show me things - a very nice guy and very accommodating. |

I own an Art Weiler Garrison 202E (7' #4) repro.
Cast and fish great. For the money it is a great rod but of course, the varnish job is not great. Mine looks like has been varnished tip tops down and there varnish beads (I don“t know how do you call it in english...) between each guide. Anyway he is a great guy too. I purchased mine from a forum member here. The ferrule plug had a bit of damage and asked Art to make me a new one and about his cost. As fast as I supplied my adress he sent one for free. It says all... This is the one I own:
...How I enjoy taking this kind of pics with my cell phone |

Art is a true gentlemen and produces rods which are such a delight to fish. I love fishing the 202E which is an outstanding rod to fish with for our streams.
IMHO you won't easily find a better made rod for the price.

Well I went to Art's home and I was very impressed with both the man himself as well as his rods. Art had 7 or 8 rods for me to try and i fell in love with
the first one I cast , so I now own his version of a 7 1/2 5wt Gillum rod. Anyone interested in a well made rod at very good prices should contact Art .

I have a second chapter to add about my dealings with Art. After fishing with the Gillum rod I realized that it was not the rod for me so I called Art and told
him of my dilemma, without a moment of hesitation Art told me to send it back and we decided on a Garrison 206L ( the rod I thought about in the beginning).
Within two days I had that rod in my hands!.Art is truly a man who stands behind his work and wants his customers to be pleased. If anyone has any questions
about doing business with Art please call me 845-978-5928
