I have a rod that has one ferrule that is just on the edge of loose. It is tight, does not tick but doesn't pop either. Is there anyway to tighten one just
a little?

It that doesn't work, drill a hole in a relatively soft wood like poplar the is the outside diameter of the female ferrule, with hole the same depth as the
ferrule length. make a kerf through to the hole in the center of one end-grain side, using a handsaw or bandsaw. Now, put the female ferrule in the hole and
place in a vise...pull down until kerf is closed or nearly so...loosen and turn the ferrule 90 degrees and repeat. Now, see how the male ferrule is
fitting.....repeat to taste. Key is to start slow and test as you go, crank down more as needed to snug things up.

Same principal as stated by drbaits only I use a wood clothespin and a pair of pliers,, with the same method of application. Works well,, and as stated,, go
slow,,and test often.

Use can put the female ferrule in a 3 jaw chuck and careful tightening will close the female. Go slowly and protect the female from scratches.
