Well my planing was off and what I ended up with, to me , is a nice medium actioned 4 wt that loves my Thebault DT4 silk line. I wouldn't deduct anything for varnish as it is very thin. Heat treated at 375 for 12 minutes. Tip 0 = .063 5 = .0815 10 = .094 15 = .119 20 = .129 25 = .140 30 = .158 Mid 0 = .158 5 = .163 10 = .186 15 = .193 20 = .206 25 = .217 30 = .233 butt 0 = .233 5 = .245 10 = .282 15 = .300 20 = .315 25 = 315 30 = .315 Guide spacing tip 4.5" 9.75" 15.5" 21.5" 28" Mid 5.5" 12.75" 22" Butt Stripper right below the Ferrule Try it, Pete

Don't know why my numbers were so off but here it is; Tip 00= 0.071 05= 0.079 10= 0.089 15= 0.106 20= 0.116 25= 0.138 30= 0.154 Mid 00= 0.154 05= 0.168 10= 0.181 15= 0.200 20= 0.206 25= 0.226 03=0.233 Butt 00= 0.233 05= 0.252 10= 0.268 15= 0.280 20= 0.315 25= 0.315 30= 0.315 Pete

Posts: 584 02/08/2007 18:13	Pete, you'ld be surprise at how a heavier tip affects the other two thirds of a rod. Definitely slows down the action and increases the stresses/flexing of the mid and butt. How does your faster tip turn over line? Does it feel at some point that it collapses? Thanks, Tim

Posts: 5037 02/08/2007 20:30 Moderator	It seems to hold up fairly well, as you put more power to it for a longer cast, it flexes through the mid and relieves the stress on the tip. I'd like to get the second taper done as a comparison and try to get the numbers correct. Pete
