the men in red finally caught up with our outlaw bob , they put the shackles on him and escorted him back to the U.S border , last i heard he was being drilled
with question's about his naughty pictures and how they might not even let him back home ,
his last couple days was with good dry fly fishing again and we went to the mountains to hide out , as luck would have it , we met up with another great forum member who flew out to go fishing with me , ' oldfishbrain''
Alex Vardin , he brought a bamboo rod that he made himself in a 4 wt and he also had a very sweet F.E Thomas 8 ft 4 piece rod with a Leonard reel ,the reel is one that was made befor the fire and i think something like only ever 200 made , the rod is pretty rare and such a wonderfull colour to it , like a browntone , maybe even a bit darker , i think they call it mahogney
the story on the rod is the old forum boss banjo has the only other one , something like made for a father and son , i hope banjo can tell us maybe a bit more about the rod , enlighten us on it , it was a very pretty rod , dark but not flamed
i was lucky to be able to hold it and dream about such a great looking rod , , Alex even let me try it out '
now i could cast the rod but not make the magic like Alex could with it , it was such a joy to take someone who is 76 and watch him cast a rod better then anyone i have yet to see with bamboo , the rod was fluid with him , a part of him , it was better then watching a movie , i felt like not the guide for the day but the student who was watching a true master with his rod , i will never forget it and it was a treat to take this gentleman out for the day
i wish we never got the hard rain in the afternoon as it blew the rivers out for 2 days , , also to let all you forum members know , alex makes his own silk leaders , i got 4 coming from him and they sure turn over a fly nicely ,
here is a few pictures of the country we was in for fishing and one of the master and his fine Leonard reel Alex
