Locked up the cabin this past Saturday. Overall it was a cool and wet summer in my part of fishing country which is mostly at 10,000 ft. Don't
remember seeing one hopper during the season. Got dissapointed when I was going to meet Slate River to drift the Upper Gunnison and got a call from Bob the
night before that it was snowing like crazy and blowing like hell. On the other hand I fished the Uncomphagre River in the middle of Montrose fishing a nymph
behind a small piece of split shot ( I know, I know)
and an indicator ( I
know, I know, I know, bless me Father for I have sinned)
and caught
some beautiful browns and rainbows. That river is making a great comeback since they put in the Ridgeway dam.
It was a season of new experiences.
Met some new friends, missed some old ones and am already looking forward to next year. "Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise" as my mom used to say. (Although I hope the creeks all rise with lots of water this winter!
